Tooth Bonding

Dental bonding in New York City can restore and repair your damaged teeth and improve the appearance of your smile. Also called teeth bonding, dental bonding is usually performed in a single visit by our skilled NYC cosmetic dentist. Dental bonding takes one visit to perform. Dental bonding is an effective, long-lasting treatment that improves the appearance of chipped or broken teeth. Dr. John Koutsoyiannis also offers dental bonding to close the space between teeth or as a tooth-colored filling for cavities.

WHAT IS DENTAL BONDING?

Dental bonding uses resin material to correct a chipped or broken tooth by filling in the missing spaces. Dental bonding material can be shaped and polished as needed to match the color of your surrounding teeth for natural-looking results. In addition to repairing broken teeth, dental bonding is also used to close gaps in the smile, improve tooth discoloration, change the shape of the teeth, and even elongate the teeth. Dental bonding is also often used to repair broken teeth.

BENEFITS OF DENTAL BONDING
Customizable To Match Your Natural Teeth
Restores A Full Smile
Closes Gaps In The Teeth (If Desired)
Achieves A More Symmetrical Smile
Alternative To Amalgam Fillings

WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL BONDING?

Ideal candidates for dental bonding are patients looking to repair a broken, chipped, or damaged tooth. Before undergoing dental bonding, it is important to ensure all other aspects of the smile are healthy. Dental bonding can effectively repair a single damaged tooth or several damaged teeth to restore a full smile.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY DENTAL BONDING TREATMENT?

During the procedure, your cosmetic dentist first numbs the area in your mouth, especially if the damage to the tooth being repaired is severe. During dental bonding, you shouldn’t experience any pain, but you may notice slight sensitivity after your procedure. Dr. John Koutsoyiannis polishes the excess material so that the bonded tooth fits perfectly within your smile.

When performing dental bonding, Dr. John may use various shades to develop the composite resin color that is most similar to the tooth being repaired. The surface of the tooth being treated will be prepared and then lightly coated with a gel that will help the bonding material adhere to your tooth. Dr. Koutsoyiannis will then apply the tooth-colored bonding material to your tooth and mold it to the desired shape. A blue spectrum light is used to harden the dental bonding material. Dr. John will finish your dental bonding treatment by trimming and shaping the hardened resin to its ideal shape.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY DENTAL BONDING TREATMENT?

Immediately following dental bonding, you may need to avoid eating for a couple of hours if anesthetic has been used, in order to avoid biting your cheek. After you have adjusted to your new smile, it is important to practice proper oral hygiene. Your bonded tooth can be treated just like your natural teeth, so it is important to brush and floss daily. Routine examinations and dental cleanings can also ensure the longevity and health of your smile.
